Helen L. Jones, 77

Longtime Kalispell resident, Helen L. Jones, 77, passed away peacefully at her home on March 25, 2014.

Helen was born on June 2, 1936, in Littlefork, Minn. She was the fourth child of Louis and Dolly DeRosier.

In 1947, her family headed west to Montana where they eventually settled in Whitefish. After finishing school, she moved to Spokane where she met the love of her life, Orrie Jones. They married in 1955 and were blessed with five children, Susie, Melanie, Orrie, Michael and Robert. They eventually moved back to Montana to raise their children.  

Helen was well known in the community due to the many retail jobs she held such as Kmart, Hallmark and Walgreens.

Helen loved the outdoors and did a lot of fishing, hunting and camping. She was a kind and generous person who even donated a kidney to her daughter Susie. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orrie V. Jones; daughter Michelle “Susie” Jones; brother, Charles DeRosier; sister, Rheta Euell; brother-in-law, Gile Sorenson; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Jones.

She is survived by two sisters, Delores Sorenson, and Barbara Parish and husband William; one daughter, Melanie Laisuthruklai and husband George; three sons, Orrie M. Jones and wife Lisa, Michael G. Jones and Brenda, and Robert W. Jones; grandchildren, Alicia and Puri of Thailand, Thai and Tanita of Kalispell, Michelle and Greg of Bigfork, Frank of Kalispell, Desmond of Butte, Gessie and Tyler of North Dakota, Joshua, Amy, Kaylee and Ashley, all of Washington, and Kyrie and Logan of Kalispell; and eight great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation for Helen from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday March 29, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
