Boys causing trouble in Evergreen
Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a pair of boys after responding to a report of trespassing on Montclair Drive.
A woman there locked herself and her 10-year-old and 15-year-old children in their bedroom and retrieved a .22-caliber handgun after she saw someone she didn’t know approach her house, setting off a motion-sensing light on her back porch. A responding deputy identified himself to a neighbor, who had come outside to see what was going on, and the two boys ran from the scene, fleeing into the nearby woods. One was apprehended after tripping and falling while running away; the second was apprehended later. They allegedly admitted breaking into a home on the street and taking a GoPro camera, two sets of earphones and $5.
A child protection agency was called to investigate after deputies responded to Montclair Drive, where a passing motorist found a pair of 2- or 3-year-old girls who said they were freezing and didn’t know where they were, but were looking for someone. One of the girls was wearing one boot and a slipper while the other was wearing a shoe and a slipper. Neither were wearing coats. The concerned passer-by wrapped the girls up in his coat and kept them in his truck to warm up while waiting for deputies to arrive.
An unbelieving motorist on Montana 82 reported another driver hit a guard rail on Sportsman’s Bridge, blowing a tire, then driving on the rim at speeds of up to 55 miles per hour, sending up sparks. The driver of the damaged vehicle eventually drove all the way to a School Addition Road property, leaving a trail of debris in its wake.
A pair of huskies were returned to their owner after having “taken up residency” on a Columbia Mountain Road doorstep. The resident said the dogs also went to the neighbor’s house, but the neighbor fired off warning shots and they returned. The dogs’ owner was given a verbal warning.
A small dog killed six chickens on a Steeles Drive property before the resident let the dog into the yard with the plan to shoot it. The dog escaped, but the owner was given several citations. The owner then decided to give up the dog and it was taken to the shelter.
Deputies were unable to locate a man who cursed at a U.S. 2 East woman and threatened to hurt her and kill her dogs over a disagreement regarding the pooches.
A shady Shih Tzu was reported after harassing chickens at a U.S. 2 East animal hospital. The owner was advised to keep her dog on her property.
A bullet was found in the garage of a Kila home on Browns Meadow Road, believed to have been fired somewhere in the area and ricocheted inside.
A larcenous Lower Valley Road boy was reported after the 15-year-old boy’s step-parent discovered he had stolen an iPod from the parents’ bedroom and lied about it.
A West Evergreen Drive school administrator called for a deputy after catching a student with what he believed to be snuff.
A Judith Road resident with a restraining order against a person reported that person was now posting about the resident on Facebook.
A large, black cow that had escaped from its Foothill Road home was standing in the middle of Stillwater Road.
A ripped-off Ridgewood Drive woman reported an ex-roommate took money from her bank account.
A subwoofer was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Nicholson Drive.
The principal of a Second Street West school reported an ongoing problem with parents parking in handicap spaces after school. A Kalispell Police Department officer who checked in on the report cited one motorist.
An impatient man who left the hospital with an intravenous line still in his arm was found at his home, having removed the line himself.
A motorist was cited for not having a license or insurance after jumping a median on Montana 35 and running off into trees due to damaged tires on the vehicle.
