Bigfork's Morleys lead way at track opener

RONAN — Bigfork’s Logan Morley had the top times in the 800 (2:10) and 1,600 (4:40) and his sister Makena Morley easily won the 800 (2:16) to open the high school track and field season Saturday at the Ronan Invitational.

Eureka had two individual winners in the field events with Khaz Yanak in the triple jump (41-5) and Cole Jankovsky in the pole vault (11-0).

Bigfork’s Megan Pancoast cleared 7-6 to win the pole vault.

Thompson Falls, with 89 1/2 points, won the boys team title. Frenchtown, 86.5, was second, Troy, 63, was third and Eureka, 53, fourth.

Plains, 117, easily took top honors for the girls in the team standings. Seeley-Swan, 71, was second, Thompson Falls, 58, third and Bigfork, 52, fourth.

Eighteen schools were in attendance.
