More park roads open
A Glacier National Park snowplow crew worked this week up to the Alder Point area on the alpine section of Going-to-the-Sun Road.
By Thursday, however, the crew’s progress was delayed because of avalanche danger.
Alder Point is above The Loop.
A plow on the east side of the park has been working in the Two Medicine area this week clearing snow from the campground and encountering 15-foot drifts on a back road loop.
Hikers and bicyclists on the west side of the park have been limited this week to going as far as the Logan Creek area, about 10 miles from the vehicle gate at Lake McDonald Lodge.
On the weekends, there are no restrictions on hikers and bikers.
There will be no hiker-biker access on the east side of the park this year because of construction activity.
Elsewhere in the park, the Camas Road, the Many Glacier Road and the Two Medicine Road are all open.
