Betty Lee Shankle Bennett Churchill, 90

Betty Lee Shankle Bennett Churchill, 90, died April 25, 2014, in Kalispell.

Betty was the only child of Charles and Gladys (Lamb) born Feb. 1, 1924. She was raised in Wichita, Kan.

She married Gene Bennett and was widowed in 1967. She was remarried in 1968 to Warren “Bill” Churchill.

Betty attained her associate’s degree in the '70s. She worked at Beach Aircraft in Wichita and the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo. She retired as a buyer for Morris Borge Industrial in Denver.

Betty enjoyed her computer, needlepoint, crosswords and reading. She loved her e-reader. She also volunteered at Montrose Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her spouses, Eugene L. Bennett and Warren E. Churchill; and daughter, Cassandra Chase.

Betty is survived by her son, Michael E. Bennett, and wife, Anita, of Kalispell; stepdaughter, Darlene Churchill Osterman, of Honolulu; grandchildren, Anthony “Thane” and wife Marcia Chase of Gypsum, Colo., Anastacia “Stacy” McDaniel of Gypsum, Todd and wife Jillian Bennett of Phoenix, and Mark and wife Natalie of Raleigh, N.C.; and great-grandchildren, Bailee and Forrest McDaniel, and Lorna, Fox, Jacob and Calvin Bennett.

Crippin Mortuary in Montrose, Colo., is handling the graveside services on May 23.
