Glacier Twins lose twice to Belgrade
The Glacier Twins dropped both games of a doubleheader to the Belgrade Bandits, losing 5-2 and 6-5, respectively, on Saturday afternoon.
Glacier took the lead in the first game with a two-run second inning.
Austin Robins went two-for-two with a double, and A.J. Wetsch drove in a run for the Twins who led 2-1 heading into the fifth inning.
“Belgrade came out and played really well,” Glacier coach Bob Rupp said. “It was wet so there were gonna be some errors on both teams, but their pitchers did pretty good and they could hit the ball where we weren’t.”
Unfortunately for Glacier, the Bandits would score four runs throughout the final three innings, while holding the Twins scoreless to pick up a 5-2 victory.
The bats came alive for both teams in the second game as each team scored in the first three innings.
The Twins responded to Belgrade’s three-run third inning with two of their own in the bottom half and trailed 6-4. They scored one more in the fourth but couldn’t manage to tie the game up as both teams were scoreless the rest of the way.
Jayce Fagerland was three-for-three for the Twins with an RBI.
Nic Muus also drove in a run for Glacier.
“We are steps ahead of where we were last year and that’s awesome. We had that error and they playe extrtemly well after that and finished out strong,” Rupp said.
The Twins will look to rebound against the Helena Senators today in another doubleheader in Whitefish. First pitch is schedule for 11 a.m.
