Kats roll Whitefish
COLUMBIA FALLS — Ashley Trueblood struck out 13 batters and belted a home run to right-center field in the second inning with one runner aboard in Columbia Falls’ 15-3 Northwestern A softball victory over Whitefish on Saturday afternoon.
Trueblood went 3 for 4 at the plate as Columbia Falls banged out 16 hits.
Tiffany Hummer, 2 for 3, slammed a triple and Peyton Kehr, 2 for 3, doubled twice.
Kehr, a center fielder, was making her second varsity start.
Winter Kemppainen also went 3 for 4 for the Wildkats and Breanna Friar had two hits in four trips to the plate.
Whitefish took a quick 1-0 lead on a two-out home run by Jordan Sletter, 2 for 2, to right-center field in the first inning.
Michaela McDowell also went 2 for 2 for the Bulldogs.
Columbia Falls tallied five runs in the second inning and followed with six in the third.
The Wildkats added a run in the fourth and closed with three in the fifth.
Columbia Falls (4-6-1 overall, 2-2 league) is back in action on Monday hosting Shelby at 4 p.m. Whitefish then hosts Shelby at 6 p.m.
