Kats' Trueblood hurls no-hitter, rips another HR

COLUMBIA FALLS — Ashley Trueblood threw a no-hitter and smacked a three-run home run to right center in the first inning as Columbia Falls stomped Shelby 16-0 in a nonconference softball matchup on Monday afternoon.

Trueblood finished with nine strikeouts and walked just two batters.

Her home run was her second in as many games and gave Columbia Falls a 3-0 lead.

The Wildkats (5-6-1) had 17 hits by nine players. Tiffany Hummer, Carlee Brown and Mati Fetters had three hits each. Trueblood and Alysha Cantu were next with two apiece.

Columbia Falls belted eight doubles. Hummer and Fetters both had two.

Trueblood drove in four runs, Fetters three and Courtney Murray two.

Columbia Falls returns to Northwestern A play with games Thursday at Frenchtown and Saturday at Polson.

The Wildkats are 2-2 in league play.

WHITEFISH — A seven-run fourth inning helped Whitefish post a nonconference victory over Shelby.

The Bulldogs (2-9 overall) finished it off with a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Kenzie Carl, 3 for 4, doubled for Whitefish, as did Georgia Donaldson, 2 for 4.

Malia Morris, Jordan Sletten and Michaela McDowell had two hits each for Whitefish.

Glacier 1

FRENCHTOWN — Morgan Ray fanned 13 Glacier batters and hit one of Frenchtown’s three home runs in a nonconference victory over Glacier.

Frenchtown, up 3-1 after three innings, scored nine runs in the next three to put the game away.

Vanessa Stavis homered twice for the Class A Broncs.

Ray also doubled.

Tacey Howe homered for Class AA Glacier.

Deer Lodge sweeps Eureka

POLSON — Runs and hits favored Deer Lodge in a big way as the Wardens rolled past Eureka 11-1 and 20-2 in Class B doubleheader action.

Eureka had just two hits in each game while Deer Lodge had 12 in the opener and nine in the finale.

Jaime Soderling went 2 for 2 for Eureka in the second game.

Evynn Anderson and Laura Williams both were 1 for 2 in the opener for Eureka.

This matchup was originally scheduled for April 26, but was postponed because of weather.

Eureka wraps up regular-season action on May 17 at Mission.
