Liberal hypocrisy?

Gene Lyons’ March 27 column (“America’s oligarchs”) demonstrates the hypocrisy of this blatant liberal. Excoriating the conservative Koch brothers for supporting political causes, he dismisses the hundreds of millions of dollars they contribute to charity as “throwing money at their wives’ favorite ballet companies and museums.”

In fact, the list of Koch brothers donations includes: New York Presbyterian Hospital, $15 million; M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital, $25 million; Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, $30 million; Massachusetts Institute of Technology, $139 million, to name a few of their $600 million in donated and pledged charitable contributions.

By the way, Gene, while lamenting the evil political dealings of the Koch brothers, you might have mentioned George Soros, whose Open Society likewise spends millions of his dollars on liberal political activity. But, heck, as a liberal you don’t need be factual...  character assassination is all that is required. And if that doesn’t work, use the IRS and agency rule-making to shut down conservative views while promoting the liberal agenda through labor unions.
