Re-elect Barron in Lake County

The election for Lake County commissioner is coming up sooner than you might expect. Because the only candidates are both Republicans, whichever one wins the June 3 primary will be the only one on the ballot in November.

Even though both candidates are from the same party they are very different in the way they are represented in their campaign materials and by their supporters. Bill Barron has a proven track record of considering all sides to make thoughtful, balanced decisions, and implementing procedures to get the job done. He holds strong principals but can compromise when it is in the best interest of the county as a whole.

As a volunteer member of two Lake County Planning Boards I know how our often-controversial work depends on support from the county commissioners. Having government tell a property owner what he can or can’t do on his own land when the impacts on his neighbors can be mitigated is wrong. But I think we can all agree allowing an explosives factory to be operated next to a school is wrong too.

Land-use planning helps keep our taxes lower by making management of county services more efficient. It needs to be reasonable and regulations need to be simple and understandable. Bill Barron knows how important it is to protect both the property rights of the landowner and the property rights of neighbors.

Much of our economy is tied to Flathead Lake, one of the cleanest, most beautiful lakes in the world. Protecting the lake and the water quality should be a priority for all of us, and I am proud that it is a high priority for Bill Barron. I have worked on several projects to protect Flathead Lake and, when it has been needed, I have had great support from Lake County through Bill Barron.

We have a very good quality of life in Lake County that is enhanced by the wide diversity in our landscape and our peoples. Bill Barron believes people working together is the best way to solve problems.  He will continue to build our community by serving the entire county not just a few special interest groups.

I am proud to support Bill Barron for Lake County commissioner and ask that you support him in the primary election on June 3.
