Recount held for uncounted ballots

| May 8, 2014 9:00 PM

BUTTE — The 55 recently discovered absentee ballots from Anaconda’s school board trustee election last year have been counted and the results did not change.

Three trustees tallied the votes Wednesday only to confirm the trustee who won last year’s election, Michael Huotte, was still the winner.

Houtte had defeated Angela Galle by 24 votes. After the recount, the margin had narrowed to 20 votes.

The 55 uncounted ballots were inadvertently left behind after the election and only recently found.

Galle won another board seat in this week’s election. The system for verifying absentee ballots has been changed this year.
