Tips sought on Conrad Mansion vandals
Flathead Crimestoppers and staffers at the Conrad Mansion are looking for citizens’ help after unknown vandals pushed over three sections of the dry stone wall surrounding the historic house last month.
According to Executive Director Gennifer Sauter, three separate areas of the west wall were pushed over into the flower beds sometime between the evening of April 15 and the following morning.
The walls have stood on the property since 1895.
“With the support of the community and their willingness to come forward, it may be possible to identify the perpetrators of this crime,” Sauter wrote. “Community involvement and awareness will ensure that the Conrad Mansion and its beautiful grounds can continue as a community icon for future generations.”
Wally Wilkinson of Frontier Builders offered to repair the wall at no cost. Those repairs were completed on April 23.
“Everyone involved with the mansion would like to say a huge thank-you to Wally and his crew for restoring the wall to its original beauty,” she wrote.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact Flathead Crimestoppers at 752-8477.
