What about the grain elevators?

There was an article recently about the east side industrial park plans to relocate the railroad tracks. There doesn’t seem to be any response from the public, but I would like to share my personal opinion.

I don’t mind the economic progress to some point, but I would hope that the city would consider the history behind the rail lines and grain hauling of yesteryears. Kalispell was started surrounding the logging industry and the farming of this community. I would hope that the grain elevators on Fifth and Center would somehow be a historic landmark to us all as a reminder of our past.

It may be a private business, but wouldn’t the city consider it a historic asset? I would miss this view of the skyline that I have seen since childhood; not tall buildings. Couldn’t it be turned into a museum or something of value?

Does anyone else feel the same way that I do?
