Where was Sheriff Curry at forum?

I attended the Flathead County Republican Women’s “Meet and Greet” on Feb. 27, an excellent and well-presented forum for getting to know and question most of the 2014 primary candidates. It was informative and very well attended.

That said, I was deeply disappointed that Sheriff Chuck Curry, who was invited, did not attend. Although running unopposed, there were many of us at this function who had hoped for an opportunity to talk with him. For instance, I would like to know and understand how his department is funded. Does he accept grants? And if so, where do those dollars come from, and for what purpose are they used? As an elected official of Flathead County he must be held accountable for all funding.

I would also like to know Sheriff Curry’s views on the National Defense Authorization Act as well as his philosophy regarding the oath he took to uphold the U.S. and Montana Constitutions.

I am not alone in asking, as there are many others in Flathead County who have unanswered questions about our sheriff. We can only hope that he will attend the next forum for candidates and be kind enough to enlighten us on these and other issues.
