Class B golf: Divisional play at Eagle Bend next action for Bigfork, Eureka
Bigfork and Eureka will be competing today in a Class B Division 3 golf tournament at Eagle Bend Golf Club.
Play is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
The 18-hole event will determine who advances to the state meet at Fairmont Hot Springs on May 20-21.
The top four teams today qualify for state along with the top 15 golfers posting the lowest scores.
Also competing today in Bigfork are: Townsend, Boulder, Loyola Sacred Heart, Manhattan, Plains, Deer Lodge, Ronan, Big Timber, Thompson Falls, Three Forks and Whitehall.
Loyola will be favored to capture both the divisional boys and girls team titles along with individual medalist honors.
Bigfork has three girls and the same number of boys in the running for state play.
Maddie Lorang and Katie Mergher finished in the top 10 at the Seeley-Swan Invitational last week for the Valkyries.
At the St. Regis Invitational on May 1, Bigfork’s Ryder Trent finished sixth. Lorang was second at that outing and Stevi Siloti tied for seventh.
Jon Landon and Colton Stodghill are the other two contenders for the Bigfork boys.
Eureka’s Chase Bohne should contend in boys play.
Division 1 and 2 tournaments were held Monday. Those results follow.
