Man uses gunshots to scare off pit bulls

A man called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office from Whitetail Ridge Road to report that he had  to fire a pistol into the ground to get two unwanted pit bulls to leave his yard.

A person calling from Dawn Drive in the Columbia Falls area reported finding a garbage can knocked over, and garbage strewn about. The caller suspected a bear did it.

There was a report of several mailboxes being vandalized on Swan River Road.

A person calling from Country Court reported the theft of a diamond ring wedding set from the residence.

A man calling from Conrad Drive reported that another man brandished a gun at him and told the reporting party to get off his property.

A Pleasant Valley Road resident reported that a shed had been broken into.

There was a report of an intoxicated woman yelling at neighbors on Klondyke Loop Road in Somers.

A woman calling from Ridgewood Drive reported that her granddaughter’s ex-boyfriend was trying to force his way into her home. The man eventually left and was warned not to return.

A woman calling from an Elk Trail residence reported that she believed someone had broken into her garage and basement, and that about $850 in cash was missing.


Two teenage girls were detained by Kalispell Police Saturday for shoplifting at a Hutton Ranch Road store.

Several tools and fishing gear were reported  stolen from a vehicle on Second Avenue West North.

A Vista Loop resident said he caught kids trying to get into his car.

After a traffic stop on West Center Street and Main Street, a man was arrested for drunk driving.

Early Sunday, there was a report of about a dozen people engaged in a fight at a location on U.S. 93 South.

After a traffic stop at about 2 a.m., a woman was arrested for drunk driving.

Sunday afternoon, a man was struck by a vehicle backing up in a parking lot on U.S. 93 South. The man was temporarily unconscious.

There was a report of a skateboard being stolen from the mall.

A person calling from Airport Road reported that her vehicle was broken into.

A Sixth Avenue East resident reported that his neighbor threw a beer bottle over the fence and it broke. The neighbor claimed the reporting party first threw the beer bottle and he just threw it back. The two have a history of feuding.

A woman calling from Hawthorn Avenue reported that within a period of two hours, her flat screen television, an Xbox and a Kindle were stolen. The front door was left unlocked.

Monday morning, a person reported arriving for work at a Sixth Avenue West business to find that a door had been kicked in, and the building had been ransacked, but it was unclear if anything had been taken.

The side of a South Main Street building was vandalized with spray paint.

An Appleway Drive resident reported that it appeared that someone had put screws in tires on her vehicle and her boyfriend’s vehicle.


Columbia Falls Police got a report Sunday regarding vehicles being broken into at apartments on Fourth Avenue West.

There was a report of a man causing a disturbance at a location on Ninth Street West.
