What's going on with our country?

This is a wake-up call for anyone who loves this country and wants to enjoy the liberties we have enjoyed for over 200 years. Many of you are probably not old enough to remember Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy; they were all good Democrats. Well I do, and I also remember spending the best years of my youth along with over 16 million others, the blood that was shed and the sacrifices of all Americans to keep this a free and sovereign nation.

Was it all in vain? If the present administration stays in power, I’m afraid it may be so.

I, personally, am disgusted with both political parties. Neither of them are the parties I remember back in the 1930s and up until LBJ. Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower and Kennedy all ran for office to serve the country, not themselves. Most politicians today run because of greed and power; to hell with what is best for the country. Most of them in Congress are millionaires. If not when they come, they are when they leave.

One good thing Roosevelt did for a lot of people was the Social Security Act, the way he intended, but of course our politicians had to screw it up. He also created some work programs for those out of work (WPA and CCC) building roads, bridges and schools. The road in Glacier Park was built by CCC workers. By the way, he was also smart enough to recognize trouble coming in 1938, and started building up the military and encouraging factories to gear up to build products for the military. If it had not been for that, we would not have been able to hit back at Japan and Germany as soon as we did.

But now we have a power-hungry president who is reducing the size of our military and getting rid of any high-ranking officers who disagree with him. I am convinced he will do about anything to stay in power.

Wake up, America! Vote your conscience, not your party.
