Eureka's Bohne in hunt at State B golf

ANACONDA — Eureka’s Chase Bohne is within shooting distance of an individual state championship, trailing the leaders at the Class B state golf tournament by five strokes after the first day of competition on Tuesday at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort.

Bohne shot a 4-over-par 76 to tie for eighth after the first round. Play will conclude after 18 holes tomorrow.

Bigfork’s Colton Stodghill is in 33rd after a first-round 85.

Columbus’ Phillip Holten leads the field at 71, helping the Cougars into a tie for first as a team. Teammate Jackson Klee is in second with a 72. Missoula Loyola has a pair of golfers tied for third to cause a dead heat for the team title, each with 314 points.

Loyola junior Sadie Crippen is tied for the girls’ lead with Townsend senior Bailee Dexter. The pair shot 82 in the opening round.

Townsend, the defending champion, has a commanding lead on the team title, with all four scoring golfers in the top 15.
