Polson powers past Whitefish
The Polson Lady Pirates used a ten-run fifth inning to earn a Northwest A road victory, beating the Whitefish Lady Bulldogs 22-0 on Tuesday night.
Polson pitcher Jessica Bagnell scatter four hits throughout her five innings of work to keep the Lady Bulldogs off the scoreboard.
“They were hitting the ball well,” Whitefish head coach Carrie Lamb said.
“(Jaiden) Toth had a great game for them. She robbed our girls of a couple hits in center field with some great catches.”
Whitefish pitcher Halle Reading kept Polson at bay through the first inning, as the game was tied 0-0 heading into the second.
Polson got hot at the plate and scored six runs in the top of that inning.
Lady Pirates catcher Jaylin Kenney went 4 for 6 at the plate to led the Pirates.
Bagnell and Lydia Dupuis had three hits and doubled for Polson. Taylor Brackey also hadthree hits on the night.
Sarah Rausch was a perfect 2 for 2 at the plate. Joining her with two hits in the game were teammates Jaiden Toth, Kailyn Wall and Kyrie Bitterman.
Whitefish held Polson to just one run in the third inning before the Lady Pirates scored five more in the fourth.
“It was a good effort for them. Hats off to Polson. They’re in great shape heading into the state tournament, as they should be,” Lamb said.
The top of the order produced some hits for the Lady Bulldogs, as their first three batters, Malia Morris, Georgia Donaldson and Jordan Sletten each had hits in the contest.
Micah McFeely earned the final hit for Whitefish, who’s season came to an end with the loss.
“I was proud of my girls,” Lamb said.
“I’m always impressed and admire their positive attitudes. They maintain the fun together and that’s the true meaning of a team.”
