Ducklings saved from storm drain

A Flathead County Sheriff’s Office animal control officer saved eight ducklings from a West Reserve Drive storm drain after an adult duck was reported not leaving the area and flying in front of traffic. The officer was able to get one duckling out before needing assistance from Evergreen Fire Rescue getting the grate off the drain to save the remaining ducklings.

A hoodwinked Hungry Horse woman reported she received a call about the government giving away $7,000 to 15 random people, but that the caller needed a $250 deposit and she provided the caller with her credit card number.

A Granrud Lane man reported the sister of a runaway girl accused him on Facebook of knowing where her sister was, but he said he did not know who the runaway girl was and requested a phone call describing his options.

A person called from School Addition Road about an elementary school student threatening on Facebook to shoot another student. That student had previously been arrested at the school for having a knife.

An Ezy Drive woman reported a stray cat had been hanging around her house and, the night prior, came in and ate all her cat food and “assaulted” her cat.

A pair of manic motorists were reported racing down Moes Run at speeds of greater than 60 miles per hour.

A drunk man was reported driving up and down Elk Park Road, screaming at people.

A Pleasant Hill Drive resident trying to call a prank caller back accidentally dialed 911.

A person being booked into the county jail was found to be in possession of drugs.

An animal shelter employee was bitten by a Chihuahua.


A Kalispell Police Department officer arrested a man after he swerved and hit a pickup truck on North Meridian Road before fleeing the scene then rear-ending another car on Timberwolf Parkway, again attempting to flee.

A report of a pair of teenagers who tried to break into a Fifth Avenue West garage led to the teens, who didn’t appear to be involved in any property crime, but were cited for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

A Third Street West resident called for help with a roommate dispute after he asked the roommate to turn down her television and she responded with profanity. An officer advised the pair to behave like adults.

A pair of mad motorists were counseled after a man flipped off another man on the highway and the man followed him home and started screaming obscenities at him, threatening to beat him up.

The upset parent of a First Avenue East boy reported a neighbor’s dog was loose the prior day and tried to attack the boy.

A woman and her children were reported for taking turtles and ducks to their vehicles.


A concerned citizen contacted the Whitefish Police Department to report receiving a call from a person claiming to be from a law enforcement agency telling her of a $15 pledge she supported that, in reality, she did not. She believed the call was a scam.

A motorist was arrested during a traffic stop on West 10th Street.

A Columbia Falls Police Department officer cited and released a man for drug possession while investigating a vehicle in a Cedar Pointe Loop parking lot.
