Morleys, Bigfork on top of Western B divisional track

MISSOULA — Makena Morley set two more records while Logan Morley, Tyler Iverson and Josh Sandry were single-event winners on the final day of the Western B divisional track and field meet on Saturday. They also led the Bigfork boys and girls to first- and second-place finishes, respectively, in the team competition.

Makena Morley won the 800 in 2:12.86 to best the old divisional mark of 2:16.38 set by Bigfork’s Kayla Carlson in 2010.

She broke her own divisional mark in the 3,200 with her time of 10:27.74 on the final day. Her old mark, set last year, was 10:42.29.

On Friday, she broke her own divisional record from 2013 in the 1,600 (4:50.19).

Plains took the girls title with a 158 total. Bigfork was next with 93.

Eureka, 40, was sixth.

Logan Morley finished first in the 1,600 (4:35.03), Iverson had the best throw in the discus (157-8) and Sandry cleared 6-4 to win the high jump. Logan Morley won the 800 (2:06.44) and 3,200 (10:30.03) on Friday.

Bigfork’s boys scored in all 10 events Saturday en route to a 103 score. Loyola Sacred Heart, 89, was second and Thompson Falls, 85, third.

Eureka, 72, was fifth.

Eureka had two individuals finish second on Saturday — Khaz Yanak in the triple jump (41-1 1/2) and Brandon Conard in the 300 hurdles (42.84).

Emily Billow had the best showing for the Eureka girls on the final day, placing third in the discus (118-6).

The season concludes with the Class B state meet on Friday and Saturday in Butte.
