Son says Sherman has fought through adversity

My name is Tony Cox and I grew up in Kalispell and graduated from Flathead High School in 2001. It seems like yesterday I left home. I miss the valley badly and most of my family still lives there so I visit often.

I’m writing today to recommend my mother, Charlene Terry Sherman, as the county clerk and recorder. I am obviously biased but I watched her raise three kids on her own, in poverty, and come out the other side as one of the strongest women I’ve ever met. There are times when she was working two to three jobs and somehow during this time she went to FVCC to get an associate’s degree. I have story after story about how strong a woman Charlene Terry is and how dedicated she is to being the best at her position, but I’m just going to end my recommendation with this:

When others might have given up, cried, despaired, and felt sorry for themselves, my mom did the opposite. She was in a hole and people were shoveling dirt on her but she shook it off and stepped up every time until she could walk out. She never met a hurdle she wasn’t able to stare in the face and fight through.

When it comes to voting I would much rather have somebody in office that knows how to fight through adversity than somebody who has had it handed to them on a silver spoon. I owe a great deal to her, and I believe her struggles in life will only help her become one of the best clerk and recorders the Flathead has ever had.
