Ice causes dangerous roads
Icy roads caused havoc for many drivers on Monday as winter weather conditions returned to the Flathead. In the late afternoon, the Montana Highway Patrol responded to an accident on Montana 40 at the intersection with Dillon Road. Early reports suggested there was at least one fatality in the accident.
The Whitefish Police Department took a call from some concerned homeowners who came out of their home to find a vehicle that had been flipped on its top.
The lights of the car were still on but the driver was nowhere to be found. A nearby fire hydrant had been knocked over as well. The driver was finally located — she went to get an officer before calling a towing company.
A man said he had wrecked his truck in Livingston and lost his identification. While he was trying to buy a train ticket back, he was told to produce identification. He called police hoping to get help identifying himself so he could get home.
An unruly woman was causing a scene at a casino on U.S. 93. She was wearing a Seattle Seahawks shirt, so it is unknown if she was going “Beast Mode” or just intoxicated. She was told not to return.
A man on East Second Street called after seeing a teenage girl back into a car in the parking lot. She tried to leave the scene and he stopped her. She proceeded to unleash a tirade of profanity, but he got a picture of her license plate. She and the owner of the vehicle exchanged information.
A woman called the Columbia Falls Police Department and wanted an escort to remove things from her ex-boyfriend’s house on B Street.
A Seventh Street West man reported his neighbors were turning up their music very loudly and then turning it down. They were doing it repeatedly, he said, and it was an ongoing issue with the neighbors.
The Kalispell Police Department responded to a call from Glenwood Drive when someone heard a woman screaming. After investigating with staff, they found it was an ongoing issue with someone who screams a lot.
A quarreling couple on Hawthorn Avenue called police when the ownership of a television was dispute. She called police when he left with it in his car, and he called them to say it was his and she had stolen it.
A Wyoming Street man called to report two men who assaulted him. One swung a crowbar at him and the other pointed a gun in his face. The incident started because the crowbar swinger believed the victim had slept with his girlfriend. The caller was advised to stay in his house with the door locked. The two suspects had some red flags pop up next to their names, including a past history of assault, drugs and mental illness.
A woman called to say her boyfriend was beating another man in their house on North Meridian Road. The man who was beaten up was locked in the bathroom with a broken tooth and cuts on his head and lip. The parties were separated and would wait until the next day to see if they wanted to press charges.
