Glacier National Park continues to add to its visitor totals during the busiest year in its history.

There were 72,694 visitors to Glacier during October, pushing the year-to-date total to 2,311,455. That’s up 6.8 percent from the first 10 months of 2013.

October represented a respite of sorts after 1,728,266 people entered the park in July, August and September.

2014 has become Glacier’s most popular year for visitors. The previous busiest year was 2010 when there were 2,200,048 visitors for the entire year.

October’s visitor count was almost triple the visitor count from the same month a year ago, but in October 2013 Glacier was affected by a 16-day government shutdown that closed the park.
