BUTTE (AP) — A rescue mission in Butte is seeking to buy a hotel in town.

The 144-room Copper King Hotel has been closed since January and is listed for $2.25 million.

Butte Rescue Mission Executive Director Rocky Lyons says the hotel could provide badly needed space for his organization. Right now, the rescue mission is using all available floor space for beds but still has to turn away families because there’s not enough room.

The Montana Standard reports those who seek help at the mission include victims of domestic and sexual abuse.

Rescue mission officials say some of the space in the hotel could be rented out to tenants such as health care providers.
