Snowfall has prompted the temporary closure of a portion of Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park.

The park’s main highway was gated this morning at Avalanche on the west side and St. Mary on the east side.

Approximately 6 inches of snow had accumulated on the road near Road Camp on the west side below Logan Pass.

Snow also was reported at St. Mary.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until noon today for elevations above 5,000 feet in Northwest Montana.

Snow also was falling on Marias Pass at the southern edge of Glacier Park.
