GREAT FALLS — Defense attorneys for a Great Falls man charged with killing a Cascade County deputy during a chase say they plan to ask that his deliberate homicide trial be held outside of Great Falls.

District Judge Dirk Sandefur said Thursday he would require defense attorneys for Adam Sanchez Jr. to file a change-of-venue request within the next two months. After the motion is filed, the judge will hold a hearing.

Sandefur tentatively set a September 2015 trial date for Sanchez. Sanchez is charged in the Aug. 14 death of Deputy Joe Dunn. Prosecutors say Dunn was outside his vehicle when Sanchez intentionally swerved and struck him while fleeing law enforcement officers.
