Whitefish girls leading Class A state golf tourney
HAMILTON — Whitefish golfers are off to a strong start at the Class A state tournament at the Hamilton Golf Club.
The Whitefish girls, led by juniors Coral Schulz and Katie Fyall, have a comfortable lead following Friday’s opening session.
Schulz had the best round of the day for girls, carding an 83 while Fyall, 11 shots back, is tied for fifth place.
Whitefish’s Malia Morris, a senior, is seventh with a 96.
Whitefish posted a 377 team score. Laurel is a distant second with 417.
The Whitefish boys are currently tied for third with Livingston. Both teams have 344 scores.
Billings Central leads with a 321. Hamilton is second and only three shots back.
Individually, Caleb Stetzner of Anaconda tops the leaderboard with his 72. Chris Delaney of Frenchtown is one shot back.
Whitefish did not have a boy crack the top 10 in scoring. Mitch Young leads the Bulldogs with an 81.
Polson had two individuals in the top 10. Carson McDaniel shot a 78, which put him in a six-way tie for fourth place. And Peyton Anderson shot a 100, which put her in a tie for 10th.
Tournament play ends today.
