Young shoplifter gets taught a lesson

A woman taught her 8-year-old daughter a lesson Thursday evening after the girl stole a pack of gum from a store. She requested an officer from the Columbia Falls Police Department come and talk to the girl about stealing. 

A black bear may have been looking for a permanent home in Columbia Falls. The bear holed up in a garage on Bills Lane, scouring the garbage for some supper Thursday afternoon.

A man was evicted from a Fourth Avenue West residence and left behind a handgun and a fake AK-47. 

A group of goats was tied up in a field near Frontage Road and had become tangled up. An officer was able to get them untangled Thursday morning. 

Two men were seen fighting on Third Avenue East North on Thursday night. 


A Kalispell man called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday morning to report that two nail guns had been stolen from his vehicle and he had located them at a pawn shop. 

A lone horse was wandering down North Somers Road in Kalispell on Thursday afternoon.

A man in Kalispell reported receiving a strange phone call from a man with a thick accent who threatened to beat him up and drag him to jail Thursday afternoon. 

Two rifles were stolen from a Kings Way location in Kalispell. 


Two women reportedly stole a bathing suit and a shirt from a South Main Street store Thursday, according to the Kalispell Police Department. 

A pink calculator was stolen from a woman’s backpack on Grandview Drive on Thursday. 

A man told police that someone had entered his home on East Center Street and left a job notice on his counter. 

An intoxicated man was harassing customers on First Avenue West on Thursday night. 

A Coke machine and a candy machine were vandalized at a First Avenue East location early Friday. 

A transient was seen sleeping near East Center Street on Friday morning. 

A woman reported that her vehicle and her husband’s vehicle were broken into on Eighth Avenue East North. 

A computer was stolen from a vehicle on East Oregon Street.
