Darrel Fishel, 61

| October 7, 2014 12:52 PM

Darrel Fishel, beloved father and grandpa, at the age of 61, was suddenly “called to be with the Lord” on Sept. 30, 2014, at his home in Kalispell.

Darrel was born in Kalispell on June 9, 1953, and graduated from Flathead High School in 1972. He married Genevieve Ann Anderson on Sept. 3, 1976, at Woodland Park; they had two sons, Robert and Darrick.

Darrel worked for Flathead County for many years in the boiler rooms and doing maintenance work. He then worked for Culligan for a while before going into the gas station industry. He started at Circle K, then Super America, and finally for Holiday Station stores.

Darrel served in the Army National Guard for 21 years before retiring in June 2014. Darrel was president of the F.O.E. 234, staff sergeant in the Army National Guard, and CB Radio Club. He was a man of many words and loved by many. He always looked forward to visits with his family and grandkids. Darrel and his son Darrick would go on hunting trips by themselves and talk up a storm. He always talked afterwards about how much he enjoyed himself.

“All in all, you will be so greatly missed; we all loved you so much.”

Darrel was preceded in death by his mother, Delores Fishel; and his grandparents, George and Annie, and Morris and Mary; and brother, Duane.

He is survived by his wife, Genny Fishel, sons, Robert Fishel and Darrick Fishel, his wife Krystal and children Sammy, Jaydon, Mackenzye, Tanner and Tyler, his father, Robert Fishel, and brother, Donny Fishel, all of Kalispell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews of Idaho and Oregon.

A graveside funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Darrel’s family. You are invited to go to www.jgfuneralhome.com to view Darrel’s guest book, offer condolences and share memories.
