Football roundup: Sandry, Bigfork crush Plains

BIGFORK — Josh Sandry ran 45 yards for a touchdown, passed 5 yards to Jonathan Landon for another and returned a punt 34 yards for a score to carry No. 10-ranked Bigfork to a 49-0 District 7B football victory over winless Plains on Friday night.

All three Sandry scores came in the opening quarter as Bigfork (5-1 overall, 2-0 league) led 37-0.

Vinny Quirk also scored twice in the first quarter on a pair of short runs.

Bigfork rolled up 274 yards of total offense and held Plains to 39.

Sandry was 3 of 3 passing for 46 yards. Landon was 2 of 5 passing for 18 yards and a touchdown and 5 of 7 on his PAT kicks.

Quirk had four carries for 55 yards.

Plains (0-6, 0-3) had four turnovers — two fumbles and two interceptions.

WHITEFISH — Chris Park scored twice on runs of 20 and 9 yards and returned a fumble for another score as Whitefish crushed Livingston in a Class A nonconference matchup.

Quarterback Luke May was 10 of 17 passing for 193 yards and three touchdowns. He connected with Jed Nagler on two scoring strikes — 39 and 26 yards — and hit Jack Streibich for 23 yards and a touchdown.

Nagler had five receptions for 92 yards.

Haley Nicholson was perfect on all seven PAT kicks and closed the scoring with a 23-yard field goal.

Polson 50, Libby 14

LIBBY — Wyatt Duchharme threw three touchdown passes and Danny DiGiallonardo and Jacob Clairmont both had long touchdowns as Polson (3-4, 1-2) cruised to a Northwestern A victory over Libby (3-4, 0-2).

Duchharme completed 7 of 12 passes for 149 yards. He hit Mattew Rensvold, Tim Russel and Jarob Harrod on TD strikes of 18, 18 and 32 yards, respectively.

DiGiallonardo scored on a 69 yard scamper. He led the ground game with 106 yards on five attempts.

Clairmont, four carries for 65 yards, ran 50 yards for a score. Teammate Bridger Rowley had 99 yards on 12 attempts.

Libby scored on a touchdown passes by Braydan Thom and Erik Lauer.

Zach Crace led Libby’s ground attack with 132 yards on 24 attempts.

Polson had 460 yards of total offense to 187 for Libby.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Ty Morgan had touchdown receptions of 25 and 17 yards and returned a punt 82 yards for another score as Columbia Falls (5-1, 1-1) rolled past Frenchtown (3-4, 2-1) in Northwestern A play.

Morgan finished the night with 11 receptions for 130 yards.

Morgan also returned a punt for a touchdown earlier this season against Anaconda.

Quarterback Dakota Bridwell was 22 of 31 passing for 256 yards. He threw one interception.

Trevor Houston had six receptions for 59 yards.

The leading ball carrier for the Wildcats was Wyatt Green with eight totes for 68 yards.

Columbia Falls had 398 yards in total offense to 161 for Frenchtown.

TROY — Sean Opland scored touchdowns on runs of 67, 60 and 1 yard as Troy held on for a wild District 7B victory over Eureka.

Eureka scored twice in the fourth quarter to make it close.

Austin Sherwood passed for a touchdown and ran for another for Eureka.

Troy led 21-12 at halftime. Neither team scored in the third quarter.
