Volleyball roundup: T-Falls slips by Bigfork

BIGFORK — It was a real battle, but Thompson Falls (8-5 overall, 6-0 league) pulled through in the end to down Bigfork 28-26, 30-28, 25-23 on Saturday in District 7B volleyball action.

“It was quite intense,” Bigfork coach Melody Strauss said.

“Both teams came out really strong, great serving, great passing and smart play at the net.”

Marissa Hiza had 14 kills and 18 digs for Bigfork (8-7, 4-2). Both were team highs.

Miranda Campbell led the Valkyries in blocks with four.

Bigfork plays at Plains on Thursday.

EUREKA — Amanda Peterson had 13 kills to go with 14 digs as Eureka dumped Plains 25-15, 25-11, 25-22 in a District 7B matchup.

Evynn Anderson led Eureka in digs with 17 and aces with four.

Eureka (4-3 league) hosts Thompson Falls on Saturday.

Flathead JV 1

LIBBY — After dropping the first set of the match, the Libby Loggers won the next three for a nonconference victory over the Flathead Bravettes JV.

Halliey Moe finished with a match-high nine kills of Libby’s 45. Moe also led the Loggers defensively. She finished with four blocks while teammate Mahalah Wedel added 37 digs.

“Started off a little slow, but I was pleased with the way we picked up the energy. We spread the offense out well,” Loggers coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said.

Alyssa Wisher had a team-high eight kills for the Bravettes.

FRENCHTOWN — Kiara Burlage and Winter Kemppainen shared the kill lead with 10 each and did the same in blocks with three apiece as Columbia Falls dropped Frenchtown 25-18, 25-20, 25-16 in a Northwestern A matchup.

Columbia Falls hosts Polson on Thursday.
