C-Falls' Triplett back on PBR's biggest stage
Columbia Falls cowboy Matt Triplett said “it was pretty special,” a year ago after finishing in the top 10 at the Professional Bull Riders World Finals at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
He barely made the World Finals, finishing 35th in the final standings. The top 35 advanced.
Triplett took advantage of his Nevada trip and wound up ninth at the World Finals. He drew six bulls and rode three over the course of five days.
This year, he finds himself in a much better position. He finished the tour sitting in sixth place. Triplett, 23, competed in 27 events, riding 30 of his 80 bulls. He tallied 7,493.58 points with earnings of $139,025.80.
He had one 90-point ride this season and placed in the top five four times.
This is his third season on the PBR circuit.
World Finals action starts tonight. This marks the 21st year of the event.
Evening performances through Saturday begin at 7 MDT. CBS Sports Network will provide television coverage each day.
The top 15 riders at the World Finals, based on scores, advance to the final round on Sunday at 2 p.m. The top scorer will be crowned the event champion and receive $25,000.
