Drunk man has 'emergency'

A couple living on Kalispell Avenue received a scare on Wednesday night when a man knocked on their door and tried to get into their house, saying “it was an emergency.” Whitefish Police determined that the man was intoxicated, and was trying to locate his hostel. Officers gave him a lift. 

In an unrelated incident “involving” alcohol, a beer truck ran into a building on East Second Street on Wednesday morning.

A U.S. 93 South business reported that someone broke in on Friday night and stole $800 worth of tie-dyed T-shirts. The business had video surveillance of the suspect. 

An elderly woman called police to inquire about when she should put her trash cans out because of recent bear activity in the area. 

A Kalispell woman called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday morning about a group of kids who have been hanging out in the Bando Lane area. She said the group was confronted by another neighbor the day before, and now some of her shoes were missing from her welcome mat. 

An “irate” man called police from Columbia Falls on Wednesday morning about his neighbor’s dogs being in his yard again. 

A Columbia Falls man reported that he let someone borrow his chain saw and that he was just told it was at a local pawn shop. 

A Martin City garage was broken into sometime Tuesday night. 

A Kalispell couple reported being assaulted by the woman’s ex-boyfriend on Wednesday at a Montana 35 location. 

The Kalispell Police Department received a call Wednesday from a concerned citizen at the library saying that a boy on a missing child poster was sitting upstairs using a computer. Police confirmed that the boy had been located the week before, and was OK. 

A small kitten was picked up from Airport Road and brought to the shelter. The black-and-white kitten was thin and appeared to be injured. 

A man was cited for shoplifting from a First Avenue East North store Wednesday. 

A manager at a Schoolhouse Loop business reported that gas is being stolen from company vehicles. 

An apartment manager at a Sixth Street West building said they’ve had a problem with kids hanging out in the carport area smoking. 

An intoxicated man called police from a U.S. 93 South location Wednesday night, saying that he wanted to report his girlfriend for prostitution. 

A caller driving through Sunset Court Park had a rock thrown at her windshield Wednesday night. 

A man was so intoxicated in a North Main Street bar on Wednesday night that he fell over. 

Multiple people complained of a brown van with a strange smell coming from it on East Idaho Street around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. One caller said it smelled like meth and that he believed the owners of the van were meth users. 

A couple of men in Woodland Park received a talking-to from police after someone overheard them early Thursday morning talking about shooting the ducks that roam the park. 

Columbia Falls Police picked up a group of kids who were seen fighting on 13th Street West on Wednesday afternoon and returned them to school. 

A woman reported that her boyfriend was scammed out of $3,000 on Craigslist. 

Naughty neighborhood kids were throwing rocks across the fence, almost hitting another child on Vans Avenue on Wednesday afternoon. 

A kid stole a pack of cigars from a Ninth Street West business and took off running Wednesday. 

A woman called from Eighth Avenue East North to report that her nephew was at her apartment after she had told him he wasn’t welcome, and he urinated on her outdoor furniture. 

A man was arrested for shoplifting from a Ninth Street West business early Thursday morning.
