Wildkats spill Polson in 3 sets

COLUMBIA FALLS — Kiara Burlage tallied 13 of Columbia Falls’ 35 kills to lead the Wildkats to a three-game sweep of the Polson Lady Pirates in Northwest A volleyball action on Thursday night.

The Wildkats won 25-17, 25-19 and 25-20.

“We kinda came out a little slow,” Columbia falls coach Josie Brown said.  “We made some errors out there and Polson stuck with it and were coming at us. They played some good defense tonight.”

Cydney Finberg had 28 assists for Columbia Falls, and Shay Fishel finished with a match-high four aces. The Wildkats had 10 aces total in the match.

Carla Nicosia had six kills and three blocks for Columbia Falls.

Polson’s Jaiden Toth had all 19 assists for the Lady Pirates, connecting with Haley Faint who finished the night with a team-high 10 kills.

Libby Clay and Lydia Dupuis each had 10 digs for Polson.

Polson will look to rebound when they host Dillon at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

PLAINS — Bigfork improved to 5-2 in District 7B play with a 25-14, 25-21, 25-19 victory over Plains.

Bigfork (9-7 overall) past at 7B foe Troy on Saturday.

Anaconda 3, Whitefish 1

WHITEFISH — Whitefish pulled out a win in the second set and pushed Anaconda in the other three of the Class A nonconference matchup.

Myndi Holbrook led Whitefish in kills with 13 and shared the lead with Rachael Seymour in blocks with three each.

Seymour had a team-high 15 digs.

“The two teams were evenly matched,” Whitefish coach Sarah Scott said.

“I saw our team play some offensive volleyball that I’m happy with. Hopefully that will help us break into the next level in the weeks ahead.”

Scott said the Bulldogs also turned in a strong blocking game.
