The woods will bloom with orange this weekend as the 2014 general big-game hunting season opens across Northwest Montana.

Saturday is opening day for the five-week hunting season that lasts through Nov. 30.

Hunters should find mild weather conditions as they head afield this weekend.

Opening day should be partly sunny with a high temperature near 60 degrees in Northwest Montana, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight there is an 80 percent chance of rain showers with lows of 38 to 40 degrees.

Sunday should be partly sunny with a 40- to 50-percent chance of rain showers and southwest winds around 16 mph.

A cold front is forecast to arrive by Sunday evening that will drop snow levels to 4,000 to 5,000 feet.

From 2 to 6 inches of snow are expected in the mountains.
