The Glacier Institute, a nonprofit organization that specializes in educating people on public lands, has received a $9,865 grant from the Verizon Foundation.

The grant will be used to support youth education at the Big Creek Outdoor Education Center, focusing specifically on sustainable practices.

“The need for the programs the Glacier Institute provides is great in the community,” said Joyce Baltz, executive director of the Glacier Institute. “We are very grateful that the Verizon Foundation recognizes this need and was able to generously support our program.”

“We are very pleased to support the organizations that so effectively serve the communities where our customers and employees live and work,” said Chris Lewter, regional president of Verizon Wireless.

The Verizon Foundation is focused on accelerating social change by using the company’s innovative technology to help solve pressing problems in education, health care and energy management.

Since 2000, the Verizon Foundation has invested more than half a billion dollars to improve the communities where Verizon employees work and live.
