Shirley Ann Stubbs, 81
Shirley Ann Stubbs “went home to the angels” while surrounded by her family and friends on Oct. 28, 2014.
She was born Jan. 13, 1933, in Beverly, Mass., Harold and Dorothy Moore. She grew up in Boston with her siblings Sonny, Barb and Marilyn. As a teenager she moved to Spokane where she completed her education and met the love of her life. For almost 38 years Robert Earl Stubbs Sr. made her life the picture of love and devotion and during this time they were blessed with three children, Bobby, Sandy and Tammy. Shirley spent her years volunteering for various groups, teaching CPR and Advanced First Aid, helping care for others at the original Kalispell Regional Hospital as a surgical tech and floor clerk, and as an active member of Flathead Search & Rescue for 30 years.
Shirley “was received in Heaven” by her parents, her brother, her granddaughter Rainey, her son, and her adoring Bob.
Shirley had a way of collecting extra family wherever she went and this self-made family included Jan Kartheiser, David Mansir, Patrick Turner, Sue Dupont, Dave Pierce, Adam Funk, Alicia Fladager, Dj Jansky, Diane Goldizen, and the entire Aemisegger family, especially “her” Donna. Along with these special people, Shirley is greatly missed by her sisters, her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Gayden Mansir II, and daughter Tammy Hendrickson. Shirley’s grandchildren Laurie Gariner, Amy Mansir, Jenny Reed, Alicia Nieves, Gayle Taves, Gayden Mansir III, David Hendrickson and Robbie Stubbs will forever “love her more.” Blessed with 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, countless nieces and nephews and umpteen friends, Shirley will be missed for the simple love and faith she brought to everything she did.
Services will take place at 2 p.m. on Nov. 2, in the gymnasium of the Deer Park Elementary School in Columbia Falls, with a viewing from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, with a potluck reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Flathead Search & Rescue or to the children's special needs cause of your choice. The family asks that all attendees forgo traditional memorial attire and instead make the request to please wear anything that Shirley would have enjoyed.
The family would also like to thank all the staff and personnel of the Immanuel Lutheran home for the love and care extended to Shirley and her family.
