The UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation is seeking grant applicants from families in need of financial assistance to help pay for their children’s health-care expenses.

Applicants can receive up to $5,000 with each grant and a maximum lifetime amount of $10,000 per child.

Qualifying families must have some commercial health insurance plan. The grants will cover things not covered or partially covered by private health care such as physical, occupational and speech therapy, counseling, surgeries, prescriptions, wheelchairs and other medical devices.

Economic need is a factor, and the child must be 16-years old or younger and reside in the United States.

United is actively seeking applicants in Big Sky country to help with bills. The company has given more than $23 million in grants nationwide since the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Fund was established in 1999.

In 2013, the company awarded more than 1,700 medical grants worth $5.6 million.
