Yo ho ho and a bottle of (poisoned?) rum

A woman called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office just after midnight on Wednesday to say that she has a bottle of rum that she thinks was poisoned. She explained further, saying that she took a sip of the rum two days ago and felt very ill afterward. She believed that her cousin had been poisoning her over the past few months, but refused any medical assistance. According to the report, the woman sounded extremely intoxicated.

“Scientific research equipment” was reported stolen sometime on Sunday night.

A not-so-friendly neighbor on Shady Lane told a woman she had better “watch her back.”

An old horse was spotted in pasture near Columbia Falls Stage. Officers determined it to be more than 30 years old, and made arrangements for the animal to be put down.

A stolen white Jeep Cherokee Sport was reported from Hungry Horse. Officers later located the vehicle with three suspects inside.

A local electric company received threatening messages from an unhappy customer whose service had been disconnected. The man threatened to commit violence against employees as well as to burn his own house down with gasoline if his power didn’t get turned back on.

A woman called police from First Avenue North West in Hungry Horse after hearing a loud argument between construction workers that involved talk of guns. Officers spoke to the contractor at the location, who said he had just fired two of his employees.

A dirt bike was stolen from a U.S. 93 South location, and the thief left a few clues behind — a pack of cigarettes, lighter, knife and wire cutters near where the fence was cut.

Border Patrol agents picked up a man near Marion who was “causing a little bit of a problem” at a nearby lake. The man was from out of the country and didn’t have any papers, so the Border Patrol agents took him to get his fingerprints.

A Coram man called to report his wife for stealing his hydrocodone pills for months.

A couple of pistols were reported stolen in Somers.

A woman received a suspicious proposition on U.S. 2 West on Tuesday, when a group of five men pulled into her driveway, stated they were from Idaho and that they wanted to “buy everything” on her land, including tractors and tools.

A man picked up another man’s vehicle to service it about six months ago, and it still hasn’t been returned.

A large group of people were reported for trespassing on East Oregon Street.

A westbound train stopped in West Glacier to remove an inebriated passenger Tuesday night.

A dog was found at a local airport terminal.

A woman arrived home to find that her house had been burglarized. She said half of the items from her storage shed were missing, as were items from inside the house, which had been locked. No signs of forced entry were seen.

A dog eating the carcass of a dead deer was seen on West Reserve Drive.

The Whitefish Police Department received a familiar call from Waverly Place, where a woman reported receiving an email from someone claiming to be with the IRS. The email said the woman needed to send money or a warrant would be issued for her arrest. Police advised her that this has been an ongoing scam in the area.

A garden hose and sprinkler were stolen from Columbia Avenue sometime Monday night.

Police were called when a patient walked out of the emergency room early Wednesday morning. Officers spoke with the man, who was extremely intoxicated, but “had his wits about him.”

Columbia Falls Police were called to Eighth Avenue East North when a woman had been loitering in the area and “commandeered” a picnic table in the area and was cooking something there on Tuesday night.

A man was going around Columbia Falls in the Frontage Road area selling magazines. According to the caller, the man seemed suspicious because “he was very polite.” Police spoke to the man and advised him that he needed to obtain a business license at city hall and could no longer sell magazines until he did so.

A vehicle was broken into on Ninth Street West and a laptop, iPad and suitcase were stolen.

Kalispell Police received a call from North Meridian Road where a man and woman appeared to be beating up another woman on Tuesday. One woman was arrested after the altercation.

A welfare check was requested Tuesday after a woman was seen lying in the grass outside of a U.S. 2 West location.

An assault was reported on Hutton Ranch Road after a woman on a motorized cart ran into another woman.

A woman called police Tuesday night from Liberty Street to report that a man living at that location had marijuana in his dresser drawer, which she knew because he had invited her to share it with her. Later, the caller was concerned because she believed someone had snuck into her own apartment while she was gone and turned her air conditioner off. According to dispatch, the woman “didn’t make much sense” during the phone calls.

A woman received a fright on River View Drive on Tuesday night, when she heard strange noises in her home, but she was too scared to go and look around. Officers checked the area, as well as her home, and didn’t find anything suspicious.

A woman called to say that she took her small Bichon dog “out to potty and another big dog came up behind her and scared her to death” on Eighth Street West on Wednesday morning.

A woman on U.S. 93 South was loitering in front of a business and asked to leave Wednesday, because she was covered in feces and wrapped in a sleeping bag. The woman did not have any pants. An officer was nice enough to find the woman a pair of pants to wear.

A vehicle struck a dog on North Main Street on Wednesday morning and drove off. The dog was killed in the accident.
