MISSOULA (AP) — Authorities are searching for a 25-year-old Missoula man who hasn’t been seen since leaving on a camping trip in Ravalli County in mid-August.

Ryan Boyd Silsby planned to spend two days in the Blodgett Canyon area starting Aug. 16 but hasn’t been seen since.

Sheriff Chris Hoffman says Silsby was reported missing Tuesday.

Hoffman says Silsby has an independent streak and is known as an accomplished outdoorsman and climber.

Silsby’s vehicle was located in a parking lot.

The search involved Flathead County and Ravalli County search-and-rescue teams, Silsby’s parents and many volunteers.

Silsby is the second person missing in Ravalli County. Fifty-six-year-old George Alex Baumann didn’t return from a firewood-cutting trip last week.

The Sheriff’s Office suspended the search for Baumann on Tuesday after combing the area around his pickup.
