Bruin roaming through Whitefish

The Whitefish Police Department received multiple reports of a black bear in town Thursday evening. 

A customer at a local pizza shop called to say that her waiter had forged her signature and added a tip for himself. 


Columbia Falls Police received two calls regarding thefts from vehicles on Thursday. A car was broken into on Martha Road and a purse was stolen, while another vehicle was burglarized on Ninth Street West and $100 was taken. 


The Kalispell Police Department responded to a report of theft on First Avenue East North on Thursday. The suspect was reportedly on drugs. 

A group of people were panhandling on Hutton Ranch Road. 

A string trimmer was stolen from Corporate Drive. 

A man called police to say that his friend had stolen a knife from him. He said he had located the friend, who was living in a storage shed with his wife and their 1-year-old baby. 

A woman was found sleeping next to a bus stop on Hutton Ranch Road. 

A student said his cellphone was stolen while he was riding home on the school bus. 

Police picked up “a bunch” of marijuana from a residence on East California Street. 

A man was seen urinating in a parking lot on U.S. 93 South. 


The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding two large dogs chasing a man’s goats around on Montana 35 near Bigfork on Thursday morning. 

A couple camping near Hungry Horse had their generator stolen. 

A naughty neighbor was reported on Helena Flats Road after he threatened to shoot his neighbor during a disagreement. 

A woman called from Bigfork on Thursday afternoon to say that someone had taken money out of her account from an ATM. 

A couple of boys were reported for playing “chicken” with cars. 

A man called from Harmony Road saying he had sold a four-wheeler and received a bad check in the amount of $12,000 from the person who bought it.
