FRENCHTOWN — It was a strong showing by Northwestern A volleyball teams on Friday during the opening session of the Tip-off Tournament.

Frenchtown led the way with eight wins in pool play and a 71-point differential.

Libby, with six wins and 51 points, is third followed by Whitefish, five wins and 46 points. That gave Northwestern A three of the top four spots in the standings versus Southwestern A teams. Corvallis led that group with six wins and 67 points. That was good for second place.

The tournament winds up today.

“I was really pleased with our level of play,” Whitefish coach Sarah Scott said.

“It seems to have improved from last week. It’s good to see some growth from the girls.”

Scott said Allie Schulz, a setter, was exceptional.

“She took any pass and turned it into great set,” Scott said.
