A man with a severe cut on his hand was airlifted out of the Bob Marshall Wilderness near Pentagon Mountain on Wednesday afternoon.

The initial call came in from a personal locator beacon, according to Sheriff Chuck Curry. The beacon also had a text messaging function so the victim and his traveling party were able to relay the man’s injury to responders.

The Two Bear Air helicopter picked up the man from the wilderness and flew him to Hungry Horse Dam, where he was transferred to a Three Rivers Ambulance to be taken to the hospital.
