Glacier, Flathead golfers in the mix for medalist honors
HELENA — Teigan Avery of Glacier is the leader after the first day of play Thursday at the Helena Invitational golf tournament.
Avery shot an 80 at Green Meadow Country Club for a 4-shot advantage on Jenna Jensen of Flathead.
Kyersten Siebenaler of Glacier is fourth with a 89.
The Glacier girls, 374, trail Helena High by one shot in the team standings heading into today’s final round.
Flathead, 381, is third.
On the boys side, Flathead’s Ryan Keenan shot a 69 for the second-best round of the day.
He’s two-shots behind Barron Culver of Helena Capital.
Glacier’s Cody Sherrill, 73, is tied for fourth, Scott Larson, 74, is in a three-way tie for sixth place and Tom Mann, 77, is in a three-way tie for ninth place.
Helena Capital, 297, is the boys team leader. Glacier, 308, is third and Flathead, 330, fifth.
