A view of Grinnell Glacier with Mount Gould in the background and Upper Grinnell Lake from 2005 in Glacier National Park. Gem Glacier hangs above the cliff and the edge of Salamander Glacier is visible on the right of the image. This image is taken from the vantage point Mt. Grinnell looking south. This is one of the more easily accessed glaciers from the Many Glacier side. It can also be accessed from the west via the Loop Trail and the Grinnell Glacier overlook trail. Grinnell Glacier is a Cirque or Alpine Glacier as are most in Glacier National Park. It is one of the most studied glaciers in the Park. One hundred years ago Upper Grinnell Lake was barely present and has grown as the glacier recedes. To see more images visit: www.glacierpreservationproject.com/ or get involved by finding the Glacier Preservation Project on Kickstarter.
