Legion baseball: Lakers' Wallace named all-state

Kalispell Lakers pitcher Justin Wallace was named to the Montana/Alberta American Legion baseball Class AA all-state team on Thursday.

Wallace, who was named to the team for the first time, was the only Laker to be selected to the squad.

Joining him are Missoula Mavericks’ Slade Heggen, Shane Olson and Matt McHugh; Billings Scarlets’ Gordon Sveinson, Jalen Garcia and Collin Maier; Billings Royals’ Tanner Lennknecht and Matt Dillon; Medicine Hat’s Nolan Rattai, Bozeman’s Conner Linebarger, Great Falls’ Jayse McLean and Helena’s Joe Spradlin.

Five players earned their second all-state nod (Heggen, Olson, Linebarger, McLean and Maier).

Class A

Glacier Twins outfielder Colton Gove, Mission Valley outfielder Zeke Webster-Yaqui and Kootenai Valley second baseman Colton Henrie were all named to the American Legion baseball Class A all-state team.

The trio was joined by repeat all-staters Dakota Crowe of Deer Lodge and Trevor Mahn of Belgrade. Bo Zeiler of the Bitterroot Bucs and Kyle Norman of the Bitterroot Red Sox are also on the all-state team out of the Western A. Five teams had a pair two players named to the squad.

In addition to the all-state players, the all-Western A conference team was made up of Mission Valley’s TJ Olson, Bradley Pichler and Derek Peel; Kootenai Valley’s Dalton Smith and Austin Perez; Libby’s Will Reichel and Oliver Grupenhoff; the Bitterroot Bucs’ Brad Schaff, Kody Lane of the Bitterroot Red Sox and Josh Tabor of the Missoula Mavs.
