Flathead hosts state conference for county officials
Flathead County will host the 105th annual conference of the Montana Association of Counties.
County commissioners and other county officials from throughout the state will arrive in Kalispell on Sunday, Sept. 21, for the conference that runs through Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Hilton Garden Inn.
The annual gathering allows county officials to learn in a workshop setting about a variety of issues, such as cyber liability insurance coverage and the role of public health boards.
Counties are split into three groups for one round of workshops; some will attend the urban counties meeting; another group attends the hard rock mining counties meeting and a third session is available to oil, gas and coal counties.
The annual conference also allows county officials to draft resolutions and talk about pertinent issues for the upcoming legislative session.
Flathead County commissioners will be involved with the conference. Commissioner Cal Scott is scheduled to give the invocation and welcome Sunday evening. He’s also organizing a golfing outing for participants.
The commissioners will take participants on a tour of the restored courthouse in Kalispell and host a reception during the conference.
