Golf: Whitefish sweeps Columbia Falls Invite

COLUMBIA FALLS — The Whitefish Bulldogs swept both the boys and girls tournament at the Columbia Falls gold Invite at Meadow Lake Golf Course on Tuesday.
Mitch Young won the boys overall title, shooting a 79 to win by five strokes.
Young was off to a fast start, hitting a hole-in-one on the 165-yard par three—the course’s second hole.
Young’s teammates, Cody Olson and Cole Turegon finished in a three-way tie for second place with Chris Delaney of Frenchtown.
Columbia Falls’ highest finisher was Gabe Love who came in sixth place. Love shot a 91 to pace the Wildcats.
The Bulldogs won the Invite with a score of 337 while Columbia Falls, second place, tallied a 391.
Coral Schulz led the way for the Lady Bulldogs, netting an 82 for a first-place overall finish. Katie Fyall came in second place with a 91, and Georgia Donaldson, third, shot a 96 to give Whitefish the top-three finishers on the day.
Shaelyn Lefebvre, 116, came in tenth to lead Columbia Falls.
The Wildkats finished in third place as a team with a score of 494 while Whitefish, 373, cruised passed Frenchtown, 424, to take the team title.
Columbia Falls is hosting another golf invite today at Glacier View Golf Club in West Glacier against the Glacier and Flathead junior varsity squads. The tournament starts at 9:30 a.m.
