High school homecoming fun starts this week
It’s that time of the year again for area high school students and alumni to display school pride during homecoming with parades, athletic competitions, dances and student dress-up days.
Flathead High School will hold an assembly at 1:30 p.m. today. Homecoming royalty will be announced.
Student golfers will tee off at 11 a.m. Thursday at Buffalo Hill Golf Course and at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Northern Pines Golf Club.
A homecoming parade starts at 4 p.m. Friday on Main Street where businesses will be decorated in orange and black. This year, the Braves Touchdown Club invites all alumni to show their school spirit by walking in the parade. Interested participants should plan to meet in the back parking lot of Flathead High School at 3:30 p.m. For more information, call Heidi Escalante at 871-9506.
Cheer on the Flathead Braves football team at 7 p.m. Friday against Big Sky at Legends Stadium.
Capping off homecoming week, there will be a student dance from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the school commons.
Whitefish High School’s homecoming festivities start Sunday and go through Sept. 27.
Local businesses are asked to show their Whitefish Bulldog pride by decorating their windows. The top three window displays will receive awards.
Students will hold their own window decoration and sign competition between grade levels from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The class with the best decorations will earn a coveted “spirit jug.”
Celebrating a new era in a new building, the community is invited to take self-guided tours of the new facility during an open house from 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 23. A pep rally and bonfire will follow at 8 p.m. on the south side of the school.
A varsity volleyball match against Polson is scheduled at 7 p.m. Sept. 25.
From 12:15 to 12:55 p.m. Sept. 26, a powder puff football game will commence followed by a pep assembly at 2:30 p.m. The community is invited to show school spirit at a parade through downtown Whitefish at 4:30 p.m. and cheer on the football team at 7 p.m. against Columbia Falls. Homecoming royalty will be crowned at halftime.
Whitefish High School students will celebrate in style as they dance in the new high school cafeteria from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. Sept. 26. The dance is for Whitefish students only.
Homecoming week will end with girls and boys varsity soccer matches against Columbia Falls Sept. 27 at Memorial Field. Girls will play at 5 p.m. and boys at 7 p.m.
Glacier High School will celebrate homecoming week Sept. 22 through 27.
Seniors and sophomores will compete against juniors and freshman at a powder-puff football game at 7 p.m. Sept. 22 at Legends Stadium.
At 7 p.m. Sept. 23, the varsity volleyball team will compete against Flathead at a “white out” game.
A school assembly is 1:30 p.m. Sept. 24. During the day, homecoming royalty will be voted on and the top three candidates announced.
On Sept. 25, boys and girls soccer teams will compete in home games against Sentinel. The boys varsity match is at 3 p.m. followed by the girls at 5 p.m.
Community members can support the Glacier Wolfpack at a booster club fiesta at 5 p.m. Sept. 26 at Legends Stadium. The homecoming parade will follow at 6 p.m. beginning at First Avenue West and ending at Legends. At 7 p.m., the football team will take on Butte; royalty will be crowned at halftime.
Homecoming week will close with Glacier students dancing the night away from 9 to 11:30 p.m. Sept. 27 in the school commons.
Bigfork High School will announce homecoming royalty before the varsity volleyball match against St. Ignatius at 7 p.m. Sept. 25.
Show some school spirit at a homecoming parade starting at 12:15 p.m. Sept. 26 on Grand Avenue.
The Bigfork Vikings football team will play Shelby at 7 p.m. Sept. 26. The homecoming king and queen will be crowned during halftime.
Bigfork students are invited to a homecoming dance Sept. 27 from 8 to 11 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Columbia Falls High School will celebrate homecoming the week of Oct. 6.
Students will show their school spirit by decorating the school. A pep assembly will also be held at a date to be decided.
The Columbia Falls Wildcats football game against Frenchtown will be begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 10. Royalty will be crowned during halftime. A homecoming dance will be held following the football game.
